Help with Petasos for iOS and macOS

Getting connected

• What do I need? A running Hermes Agent gateway on your own machine. Petasos is the client; the agent runs on your hardware.
• Easiest pairing: on the gateway machine run hermes-pair-qr, then tap Scan pairing QR code in Petasos. You can also enter the gateway URL manually and sign in.
• Just exploring? Tap Try Demo Mode on the first screen — the full app on example data, no gateway needed.

Common issues

• "Disconnected" won't go away — check that your gateway process is running and reachable from your phone's network. If your gateway is on a VPN or tailnet, make sure the phone is connected to it. Petasos retries automatically and reconnects the moment the gateway is reachable.
• Opening a session shows a spinner for a long time — very large sessions take a moment to load their history; the spinner is normal for the first open.
• A session never answers — extremely long-lived sessions can outgrow your agent's context management. Start a fresh session for new work; your old session's history stays on your gateway.
• No notification banners — check the permission state in Settings ▸ Notifications inside Petasos, and that Petasos is allowed in the system notification settings. Use Send Test to verify instantly.
• Voice notes transcribe nothing — enable Dictation in your device's keyboard settings to install the on-device speech model, and check microphone + speech permissions for Petasos.
