Privacy Policy

The short version: Petasos is a client for your own Hermes Agent gateway. It has no backend of ours, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party SDKs. Your data goes to the gateway you configure — and nowhere else, unless you explicitly turn on optional error reporting.
What Petasos stores, and where
- Gateway credentials (the gateway URL and either a username/password or a session token) are stored in the device Keychain, marked this-device-only. They are never sent to the developer or any third party — only to the gateway you entered, to authenticate.
- App preferences (theme, sounds, notification and layout settings) live in your device's local preferences.
- Chat content and session data are not stored by Petasos. Messages transit directly between your device and your gateway; your gateway (which you control) holds conversation history.
- A local diagnostics log (errors and connection events, with web addresses and any credential-shaped text removed before writing) is kept on your device so you can attach it to a support request. It never leaves your device unless you export it yourself or enable the optional reporting below.
What Petasos transmits
- Requests to your gateway (over HTTPS, or plain HTTP only if you configure a local-network/VPN gateway that way): conversations, session lists, live activity, file attachments you send, and scheduled-job management.
- Optional, off by default — anonymous error reports. If you turn on "Share anonymous error reports" in Settings, Petasos sends the developer redacted error and crash events (the error text with addresses and secrets stripped), plus the app version and OS version. Never included: chat content, your gateway's address, credentials, or anything identifying you or your device. Turning the switch off also discards any queued reports. If you never touch the switch, nothing is ever sent.
- Nothing else. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
Camera, microphone, and speech
- Camera — used only when you tap "Scan pairing QR code." No images are stored or transmitted.
- Microphone & speech recognition — used only when you tap the voice-note button. Audio is recorded to a temporary file and transcribed into text — on-device whenever your device supports it, otherwise via Apple's standard speech service — then the audio file is deleted. Petasos never uploads your audio to your gateway or to the developer; only the text you choose to send goes to your gateway.
Local network
Petasos may connect to gateways on your local network or VPN, which is why the system asks for local-network permission. It is used solely to reach the gateway you configured.
Tracking
Petasos does not track you across apps or websites and includes no third-party tracking technology. Per Apple's definitions, Petasos collects no data linked to your identity.
Children
Petasos is a developer/productivity tool and is not directed at children.
